You will have the opportunity to work across the whole stack, from designing effective database schemas and efficient queries to implementing secure and scalable services with clean APIs as well as the modern web or native mobile applications that utilise them.

You will also help build the in-house tools and utilities that enable us to keep improving our ability to build, deploy, run and monitor our systems in production.

To give you a flavour of the role, the successful candidate will be:

  • Working in a fast-paced agile environment
  • Gaining a deep understanding of the business to inform the creation of innovative solutions to real-world problems.
  • Ensuring that engineering standards are met through idiomatic development, unit testing etc.

The Technology

Our core services are written in Go with MySQL databases. Our main web application is Angular (v7) and TypeScript, though we have other applications that use React Native and are experimenting with Dart and Flutter for our next generation mobile application. Within the data team Python is the language of choice.

As a company we fully believe in the benefits of modern cloud platforms, so all our applications and services run in AWS and we are always looking to take advantage of new capabilities, such as AWS Lambda for “Serverless” applications.

It is also safe to say that we are amenable to trying new things if there is a compelling case to be made for a new language, technology or framework.
